Discovering God Through Praying One Word A Week

Discovering God Through Praying One Word A Week

What if prayer could feel as natural as breathing?

For many, prayer is a routine – something done at a set time, in certain ways.

Whether you feel timid, distracted, bored, or just unsure where to start, you’ll discover that prayer doesn’t have to be complicated, and you don’t have to “get it right” for God to listen.

What if one word could change the way you talk with God?

In Discovering God Through One Word A Week, you are invited into a year-long adventure using one word that becomes your compass for connecting with  God in fresh and meaningful ways.

Like a spiritual travelog, you will be encouraged through personal stories so that prayer feels like an exploration rather than a chore. You’ll discover how to pack light (leaving behind stale routines), take detours into wonder, and notice God’s presence in places you never expected.

Whether you’re a seasoned pray-er or just starting out, this journey will help you listen more closely, speak more freely, and walk more closely with God – one word at a time.

Come and experience prayer that’s personal, joyful and alive. Let the adventure begin.

What people are saying about this book

Soon after “endurance” was Andrea’s prayer word for the week I experienced the need for very constant endurance and now I look back and see the value of endurance. I realized that previously I’d prayed for problems to go away and not for the grace to endure. God changed my perspective of endurance and taught me the richness of his endurance in me.
—Joyce Greenlee, Perpetual Student, Retired Teacher.

The Words of the Lord are living and active. Hebrews 4:12. The journey of living out weekly words has given me insight into the Lord’s movement in my life. My faith in His promises is even more solid today.
—Kim Henry, Prayer Group Leader, Spiritual Development Mentor

I could not manufacture, under my own effort what God revealed through praying focus words from week to week. Often it wasn’t until later that I realized the fascinating miracles God did every week from a simple word prayed. The word created an opportunity to see God in action in the day-to-day, mundane. I regularly didn’t understand the context of the word until I was living it out in faith, but the beauty is in not knowing ahead of time how your life will be touched.
—Nichole Barlow, Homeschooler, Pastor’s Wife
